Pavel Durov, the founder and CEO of Telegram, was arrested around 8:00 p.m. while getting off his private jet at Le Bourget airport in Paris. Durov, a 39-year-old French-Russian, was arriving from Azerbaijan, accompanied by his bodyguard and a woman, apparently his girlfriend, when he was caught by the gendarmes of the GTA (Air Transport Gendarmerie).

A search warrant had been issued against him by the French National Directorate of the Judicial Police, issued on the basis of a preliminary investigation.

A spokesperson for Amsterdam IT councilor Alexander Scholtes confirmed the move to BNR, stating that the ban was enacted in late April but had not been publicly communicated.
