Alistair E Scott: “Whatever happened to Londongrad?”

Now I live in a city called, London. This is the UK’s largest and most cosmopolitan city. This is one of the world’s biggest financial centres. This is the home of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. The official residence of the King, and the Prime Minister. The capital city. The home of the Intelligence and Security services. A playground of the wealthy with some of the most desirable properties on the planet, at some of the most expensive prices. A shoppers paradise. Every major fashion designer, every leading Jeweller, in fact, if you are anybody at all, then you need to be in London.

Well, that was certainly the case just a few short years ago. Foreign money was pouring into London. London was the favoured destination, and playground, in particular, of the Russian elite. In fact, there was so much financial activity going on involving Russian nationals, that the city became to be known to locals ‘in the know’, as Londongrad!

The Russian influence was everywhere. The Russian elites were courted by celebrities, by business and bankers in particular, and most unashamedly, by our politicians in both Houses in Parliament, both Commons and Lords. Roman Abramovich has turned Chelsea FC into a major European power, and Alisher Usmanov was a major shareholder in Arsenal FC – the two being both England’s and London’s top football teams. Yes, Londongrad was really swinging. The centre of the universe.

The Russian contingent was so highly regarded in political circles, that despite the huge financial presence and flow of monies into and out of the financial district, unbeknown to many, there was absolutely no government agency in place to investigate any potential irregularities which was more than unusual to say the least. This was an extraordinary situation. Maybe it had something to do with the fact that many of our leading politicians, including Boris Johnson, yes, that same Boris Johnson who is so vehemently anti Russian and best buddies with the pirates of Kiev. How times change.

So, what changed all of this? Just why has Russia and all things Russian gone from hero to zero, particularly in the eyes of our political elite. Londongrad has disappeared into the world of myth.

Well, I think we can trace the beginnings back to the UK public’s decision to quit the European Community (EC), or Brexit, as it was better known. Apparently, we left the EC several years ago, but the politicians, by all appearances, seemed to forget that we had, and the things which most appealed to the British voters, namely immigration and the seemingly unstoppable steamroller that was the liberalism of society by minority groups. Nothing, however, has changed, and in truth, has continued on a downward spiral.

And today, at the height of the Ukraine SMO, the UK is at the very forefront of the western allies, including the US, with their vociferous anti-Russian hyperbole and what can only be described as irresponsible actions in support of Kiev. Furthermore, there seems to be no let up in this almost maniacal support, in fact whenever Kiev commits yet another diabolical act against Russia, the UK is almost certain to be mentioned somewhere in the planning or execution of the atrocity. Unfortunately, these acts, and in general, the UK’s role in the whole affair is underplayed by the bought and paid for mainstream media. All media coverage is strictly controlled, and people like me, who have an alternative view to the official line, have no voice whatsoever.

I was asked to give an account of the British view on the possible entry of Poland and Lithuania into the conflict in Ukraine. Well, the reality is that the British public is totally unaware of this ever being a possibility through a mixture of ignorance and indifference. The mainstream media have done such a good job of demonising President Putin and Russia, that there is still very strong support in the UK for Ukraine and the diminutive Zelensky. Even as I write this article, I watch the famous British intelligence agent, James Bond, 007, fighting against the eternal baddies, Russia. The anti Russian bias has been well and truly ingrained into western society, and the British in particular.

As if we needed any further evidence of how the British public has been totally kept in the dark about what is going on, not just in Ukraine, but in the UK itself, a recent Parliamentary byElection was fought out in the end between the Conservative and Labour candidates who finished in that order with only a hairs breadth between them. Everyone else was a country mile behind. Such a result, when over 15million people in this country are on the poverty line, when social benefits are cut as billions are spent in supporting a Nazi infested government in Kiev, and an incompetent government pushing the country ever closer to oblivion as its leadership continues to bait Moscow with ever more outrageous acts of criminality. Yes, these are the people being voted into positions of power by a totally unsuspecting British public, under the propagandist influence of a corrupt Westminster. It has been said that the reasoning behind all of this absurdity stems from Britains need for a trade deal with the US – and this is the price that we, the public have to pay. The actions of this government, both at home and on the international stage are nothing short of criminal. This is not what the people want. They have never been consulted. Their actions are nothing short of treasonous. Who can help us? Who can hear us? With my views, I’m a foreigner in my own country.
