Israel to invade Gaza after Biden leaves – Der Spiegel

The US president condemned Hamas’s “brutal terrorist attack” as he announced a Wednesday wartime trip to Israel

An Israeli ground offensive in Gaza will likely only take place after US President Joe Biden concludes his visit to the country, news website Der Spiegel reported on Tuesday.

The German outlet cited anonymous sources as suggesting that there are “increasing signs” that any plans to invade the Palestinian enclave will be “almost impossible” while Biden is in Israel.

Arab Leaders Refuse To Meet Biden As Protests Rage Around The World After Gaza Hospital Strike

Update (2100ET): Wednesday is shaping up as quite a global day of rage as the following series of clips from major cities around the world demonstrates.

As expected, the fallout from the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital bombing has been swift, with a domino effect of negative consequences both for diplomacy and on the 'Arab street'. The situation outside the US Embassy in Beirut is deteriorating tonight, with reports of riot police and tear gas being deployed against large crowds waving Hezbollah flags.

But more importantly, and just as Air Force One is departing Washington for Israel, the White House has canceled the entire leg of Biden's trip to Jordan. The confirmation was issued within the same hour that Arab leaders announced they were unwilling to meet with Biden, given the US is Israel's biggest funder and supporter.

Israel and Palestinians trade blame for deadly hospital strike

Both sides have denied culpability for the deaths of hundreds at Gaza’s oldest hospital

Israel has denied striking the Al-Ahli Arab Hospital in Gaza on Tuesday, alleging that a Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) misfire was to blame. PIJ has accused Israel of trying to cover up their “massacre” while Hamas has argued that the US is ultimately responsible.

More than 600 people have been confirmed killed and 900 more wounded at the facility, with the death toll expected to rise. In addition to patients, the building was sheltering many Palestinian civilians seeking refuge from Israeli air raids.

Islamic Jihad misfired rocket strikes Gaza hospital, killing hundreds - IDF

Rockets fired by factions in the Gaza Strip often fall short, with Palestinians killed in a number of past such incidents.

The IDF confirmed late Tuesday night that a Palestinian Islamic Jihad failed rocket attack damaged a Gaza hospital, leading to a still-unclear number of deaths.

The army spokesperson gave a press conference declaring that "an analysis of IDF operational systems indicates a barrage of rockets was fired by terrorists in Gaza, passing in close proximity, to the hospital at the time it was hit. Intelligence from a few sources that we have in our hands indicates that the Islamic Jihad is responsible."

IDF reveals evidence Gaza hospital blast caused by rocket misfire

IDF spokesperson shares aerial pictures showing evidence damage was caused by a rocket misfire and reveals a phone call exposing Hamas knew it was a rocket misfire and decided to launch a media campaign.

Gaza hospital strike ignites riots in Muslim countries (VIDEOS)

Pro-Palestinian protesters clashed with police and attempted to storm US and Israeli diplomatic missions

A strike on a Gaza hospital that killed at least 500 Palestinians has sparked protests and riots in Muslim-majority countries, including Lebanon, Jordan, and Türkiye.

Palestinian officials have blamed Israel for Tuesday's deadly incident, although the Israeli government has denied responsibility, saying "terrorists" in Gaza hit the facility with a misfired rocket.

Hamas terrorists still roaming southern Israel, IDF assesses

Former CIA director David Petraeus compared a ground offensive in Gaza to the fight against ISIS in Mosul.

There are still Hamas terror cells roaming the Negev region and waiting to come out of their hiding spots and attack civilians, according to an assessment made by the IDF on Wednesday morning. There is also fear of attacks on the Egyptian border, according to the same report.

The Israeli military is getting ready for the next phase of its campaign against the Gaza Strip but plans may not conform to widespread expectations of an imminent ground offensive, the IDF's International spokesperson said on Tuesday.

Hezbollah announces 'day of unprecedented anger' against Israel, Biden's visit

The call comes amid the Al Ahli Hospital explosion in Gaza, which IDF intel showed was caused by a Palestinian Islamic Jihad rocket misfire.

Lebanon's Hezbollah denounced what the group said was Israel's deadly attack on a Gaza hospital and called for "a day of unprecedented anger" on Wednesday, as protests erupted outside the US embassy in Beirut just hours after the incident.

Iran-backed Hezbollah, which fought a war with Israel in 2006, made the call for the day of protest in Beirut in a statement late on Tuesday after Palestinian officials said hundreds of people were killed in the strike on the hospital.

Scoop: White House has discussed U.S. military response if Hezbollah attacks Israel

The White House has been discussing the possibility of using military force if Hezbollah joins the war in Gaza and attacks Israel with its huge arsenal of rockets, three U.S. officials and one Israeli official with knowledge of the situation tell Axios.

Why it matters: Lebanon-based Hezbollahjoining the war would dramatically escalate the Middle East's worst conflict in decades — raising the likelihood of mass civilian casualties in Israel and Lebanon and possibly drawing in the U.S.

McCaul Preparing Authorization of Military Force If Gaza War Escalates

Rep. Michael McCaul (R-TX), chair of the House Foreign Affairs Committee, told CNN on Monday that he was drawing up an authorization for the use of military force (AUMF) against Hamas, Hezbollah, and other groups in the region if the Gaza war escalates.

“I hope I never have to mark this bill up. But we have a situation in the Middle East that’s growing day by day with intensity and if Hezbollah gets involved, Iran has already threatened if Gaza is, you know, if Israel goes, you know, if IDF (Israel Defense Forces) goes into Gaza that they’re gonna come out,” McCaul said.

EU Wants To Increase Ukraine Aid By €50 Billion Despite Corruption Concerns

The European Union plans to set up a fund called the Ukraine Facility, under which a new credit line for Ukraine would be opened in the amount of €50 billion for the period 2024-2027, but there are growing concerns about corruption.

The facility would provide assistance to Ukraine in three pillars. The first pillar would provide financial assistance to Ukraine, the second would support and finance investment, and under the third pillar, Brussels would help Ukraine plan the reforms needed to join the European Union. A specific feature of the Ukraine Facility is that frozen Russian assets would be confiscated and incorporated into the assistance model.

How COVID Vaccine Could Harm Your Gut, Leading To Brain Fog And Autoimmune Disease

Diarrhea, constipation, and bloating are common problems that plague two-thirds of Americans.

While gut problems are often written off as caused by poor diet and lifestyle habits, they may also be a sign of damage from infections such as COVID-19 and from COVID vaccination.

Internal medicine physician Dr. Keith Berkowitz, who has treated 200 COVID-vaccine-injured patients, told The Epoch Times that he found gut problems widespread among long-COVID and post-vaccine patients. However, patients often fail to bring up these issues.

Hospice patients are being quietly killed as Medicare incentivizes ‘stealth euthanasia’

A report on hospice corruption sparked outrage earlier this year. But as long as Medicare’s time-limit cap on funding exists, the killing of patients by bad actors will remain a temptation.

(LifeSiteNews) — A bombshell report was released this year evidencing a scandal that ranks among the worst in its evil: the euthanization of patients for the sake of profit. It made enough of a splash to spur new industry protocols but apparently not enough to stop the entrenched practice of hastening the death of hospice patients.

The Post-Cold War Origins of the Surveillance State

Just a few months ago I visited Israel for the first time in 40 years. I stayed in a distant aunt’s apartment, in the spare room that doubled as a shelter from missile attacks. Its two-foot thick walls were curious to me, and the idea of missiles raining down on suburban Tel Aviv was rather abstract. Such security concerns felt very localised, and the global dynamics of War on Terror felt like a different epoch.

The Hamas terror attacks and Western response are a sharp return to those dynamics, though we had been living with their offspring for some time – the new systems of censorship have their origins in the War on Terror, which then shifted to countering violent extremism, and expanded to countering anti-elite dissent more broadly.

Stockholm To Ban Gas And Diesel Cars Starting In 2025

The ban on gas and diesel vehicles is officially making its way across the globe, with Stockholm the next city in the queue.

The Swedish capital now has a plan in place to ban gas and diesel cars in part of the city beginning in 2025, according to Bloomberg. The ban is going to begin in a 20-block area around the capital’s finance hub, the report says. The same area also houses the city’s main shopping attractions. It’ll only allow “electric cars, some hybrid trucks and fuel cell vehicles”, the report says, citing rules reported by SVTthat will be presented mid-week.

Commonwealth Bank opens cashless branches as expert says shift to cashless society is 'well underway' in Australia

When was the last time you used cash? For many Australians using notes and coins,  or even swiping a card has become a rare event.

The move towards a cashless society started 50 years ago with the introduction of the Bankcard and was driven by technological advancements. But it really took off with the COVID pandemic when consumers and retailers were reluctant to handle potentially infected notes and coins.

🤡 Ancient 'zombie' viruses frozen in permafrost for 50,000 years are thawing due to climate change - and could have 'disastrous' effects for humans

Ancient microbes frozen for thousands of years in Siberia's permafrost are thawing, researchers have warned - and could pose a 'disastrous' threat to the human race.

Virologist Jean-Michel Claverie has warned that as global warming defrosts ice which has remained frozen since tens of thousands of years before the dawn of civilization, ancient viruses could be unleashed. If an ancient disease killed Neanderthals, for example, their frozen corpses could still harbor infectious viruses, Claverie warns - and melting ice could reveal them.
