Leaked Charlie Kirk texts show slain commentator criticising ‘Jewish donors’ for ‘bullying’ him over political affiliations
Leaked texts have revealed that Charlie Kirk privately criticized “bullying” by “Jewish donors” who he claimed were trying to strongarm him politically.
Netanyahu smashes ‘insane, outrageous’ conspiracy
In the days following Kirk’s horrific public assassination, a wave of conspiracy theories alleging Israeli involvement in his death gained traction among certain social media figures and commentators.
The claims ranged from insinuations about Mossad to accusations of pro-Israel financiers exerting coercive control over Kirk’s publicly-held positions.
They were fuelled largely by critical comments Kirk had made about Israel directly after the October 7, 2023, attacks.
“I’m not willing to go so far as to say Netanyahu knew, or there was intelligence here, but I think some questions need to be asked. Was there a stand-down order?” he said on the Patrick Bet David Podcast.
“Six hours? I don’t believe it. Israel is the size of New Jersey. When I took a helicopter ride from Jerusalem to the Gaza border, it was 45 minutes. For six hours, they’re live-streaming the killing of Jews. Did somebody in the government say stand down? That is a legitimate non-conspiracy question.”
Among those publicly entertaining or amplifying the conspiracy that Israel may have been involved in Kirk’s death were Carlson, Marjorie Taylor Greene, and white nationalist streamer Nick Fuentes.
Fuentes ran an episode titled “DID ISRAEL KILL CHARLIE KIRK?” and used imagery tied to Jewish motifs in his show.
Carlson suggested that Kirk had a fraught relationship with Netanyahu, saying Kirk was “horrified” by developments in Gaza, despite his pro-Israel posture.
In response, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu forcefully rejected these theories. He called them “insane”, “false”, and “outrageous”, citing Nazi propaganda tactics.
“Joseph Goebbels, the Nazi propaganda minister, said that the bigger the lie, the faster it will spread. Well, somebody’s fabricated a monstrous big lie: that Israel had something to do with Charlie Kirk’s horrific murder,” he said.
“This is insane. It is false. It is outrageous.”
He also used sarcasm to highlight the absurdity of the rumors.
“Israel also changes the orbit of the moon, Israel pushes the sun,” he said.
Netanyahu further argued that Kirk had consistently expressed support for Israel and the Jewish people, citing a letter Kirk sent him months before his death.
He also implicitly challenged the motives behind the speculation, suggesting that some rumors might be driven by “obsession” or even external funding.
“Now, some are peddling these disgusting rumors — perhaps out of obsession, perhaps with Qatari funding,” he said.
