Telephone conversation with King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa
Vladimir Putin had a telephone conversation with King of Bahrain Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa at the Bahraini side’s initiative.
The two sides discussed pressing bilateral issues and expressed a mutual commitment to pursue Russian-Bahraini relations in a traditionally friendly, mutually beneficial and constructive manner. They also stated the two countries’ similar approaches to key aspects of the situation in the Middle East and North Africa. Interaction will be established as part of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation in light of the procedure initiated at the recent summitin Samarkand for Bahrain to obtain dialogue partner status in the SCO.
Vladimir Putin briefed his counterpart on today’s signing of the treaties on the accession of the Donetsk and Lugansk people's republics, as well as the Zaporozhye and Kherson regions to the Russian Federation. It was also noted that, provided the Kiev authorities are interested, the Russian side is willing to resume the negotiating process.
The earlier invitation extended to the King of Bahrain to visit the Russian Federation was reiterated.
